Police said the suspects were produced before the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court today.
One suspect was arrested last evening at his residence in Puttalam.
The suspect was identified as the driver of the backhoe involved in clearing the land.
A businessman who reportedly ordered the driver to clear the land for prawn farming, surrendered to the Arachchikattuwa Police this morning, where he was arrested.
Police revealed that an on-site investigation will be carried out today by Scene of Crime Officers.
A senior official of the Anawilundawa Police said several more suspects are due to be arrested based on information provided by the suspects upon initial questioning.
