Details have come into light during a survey of private businesses affected by the epidemic.

It is reported that minister Dinesh Gunawardena has also directed this information before the attention of the Cabinet.

A special discussion on this regard has also been held at the Labour Ministry, with the participation of the National Labor Advisory Council, the Ceylon Federation of Labour and trade unions.

At the discussion, it was decided not to lay off private sector employees.
Instead, it was decide to provide them the opportunity to work via a shift basis or other suitable program.

It was also decided that the employees who currently working from home would be the more lucrative sum of either half their last salary or Rs. 14,500. 

Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has also informed the Cabinet that the issues face by the private sector will be reviewed again by the end of June.

Meanwhile, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that companies such as MAS Holdings, Brandix, Expolanka and Keells are now imposing a 30% pay cut.
