21 factories in Horana Zone closed after employee contracts Covid-19 Featured

Steps have been taken to close 21 factories in the Boralugoda Investment Promotion Zone in Horana after a supervisor who worked in a restaurant at a well-known factory in the Zone has been diagnosed with the Covid-19 virus.

The decision was taken at a special discussion held at the Ingiriya Medical Officer of Health yesterday (30th) presided over by Kalutara District Parliamentarian Vidura Wickramanayake.

It has been decided to test 350 employees of the factory and take steps necessary to quarantine them.

The restaurant supervisor, who is said to be a relative of a coronavirus infected person in the Agalawatta area, has been referred to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Colombo. A cook who was working at the same restaurant and temporarily lodging with the infected supervisor in Boralugoda, has also been sent for investigations.

Also, a van driver, who transported the infected person and a resident of the Meerama area in Ingiriya, his family members and several others residing in Dombagaskanda, Ingiriya have been self-quarantined in their homes.

Further action is to be taken following the results of the test on these persons.
