No additional charges for electricity bills
Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera states that no additional charges will be added to the electricity bills and the money will be charged only according to the amount of electricity used.
The Minister of Power and Energy made this comment regarding the frequent inquiries made by public regarding electricity bills questioning if an additional charge will be added to the electricity bills as the issuance of electricity bills is not in proper order due to COVID-19 pandemic and bills of few months will be issued at once.
The Minister has discussed this matter with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) officials on April 23 and the Minister has stated that consumers in the areas where the curfew is implemented are not receiving electricity bills and even if they receive the bills they cannot pay them. However, the Minister also has said that some people pay the bills online but a large number of consumers are not able to do so.
