COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka climb to 34 (Update)

(Update) - The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Sri Lanka has climbed to 34, says Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

She mentioned this at a special media briefing by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

Army officer among Covid-19 cases

An Army officer who was engaged in escorting Sri Lankans to quarantine centres also contracted the Covid-19 coronavirus, the military spokesman says.

He is among the 28 Covid-19 cases tested positive in the country.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Army has established another quarantine centre at the Light Infantry 23rd Battalion headquarters in Pampaimadu, Vavuniya.

It is reported that this is in addition to the quarantine centre at the women’s corps camp in Pampaimadu.
