EC receives more than 500 complaints on election law violations, violence

The Election Commission (EC) has received more than 500 complaints on election law violations and violence since October 8, EC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said.
Issuing a statement, the polls body noted that among the complaints were 485 instances of law violations, 12 violence-related incidents, and 16 other offences.

During the last 24 hours, the EC had received complaints on 52 law violations and one incident of violence.

The EC's Complaint Management Unit, and its District Complaint Management Unit are accepting complaints in the run-up to the November 16 presidential poll.

Each complaint management unit comprises five individuals which includes four elections commission officers and a police officer.
