Malinga signs up for 'The Hundred'

Some of the world’s best cricketers have been confirmed to take part in a new domestic tournament set to be launched next summer.

Sri Lanka's star bowler - Lasith Malinga is among the players confirmed in the draft of The Hundred.

The tournament will see eight city-based franchise teams compete in a 100-balls-a-side competition.

England’s centrally contracted Test players will be assigned to teams on Thursday when the eight teams are formally unveiled by the ECB.

The rest of the squads will be confirmed at a draft on October 20.

According to metro.co.uk, Shahid Afridi, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Babar Azam, Tom Curran, Quinton De Kock, Faf du Plessis, Chris Gayle, Aaron Finch, Rashid Khan, Lasith Malinga, Eoin Morgan, Liam Plunkett, Kieron Pollard, Kagiso Rabada, Jason Roy, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Kane Williamson and David Warner are among the names confirmed so far.

Earlier, it was reported that former Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardene is in contention to coach Southern Brave team for 'The Hundred'.
