Killing of police constables- Release former LTTE suspects (video) Featured

The Movement to Release Political Prisoners has requested the Prime Minister to immediately release the former LTTE cadres who are being held in custody over the killing of the two Police Constables in Vavunathivu, Batticaloa.

The letter sent to the Prime Minister under the signature of the organisation’s Convenor Sundaram Mahendran had stated that as the police had found the service weapons in the possession of Saharan’s clan, it proves that the former LTTE cadres were not responsible for the killing of the policemen.

Coordinating member of the National Movement for Release of Political Prisoners (NMRPP) Sundaram Mahendran stated that the government should release the two former LTTE members Kadiragamarthambi Rajakumaran of Kannankuda, Batticaloa and George Neranjan of Nuwara Eliya held under the provisions of the PTI and notify his organisation on the measures being taken by the government.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne told the media that the killing of the two policemen Niroshan Indika Prasanna and Ganesh Dinesh on November 30, 2018, had been carried out under the directives of several intelligence officers operating under former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
