NTJ leader could be still alive - BBC Featured

Suspicions are being raised that the leader of National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) Mohamed Kasim Mohamed Zahran, who has allegedly carried out the suicide bomb attack, has not died.

It is reported that a security authority who is involved in the investigations of the attack has revealed to BBC Sinhala that his death has not been confirmed.

During a press conference held yesterday ( 24 April) State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene has been questioned on this regard and in response he has stated that " I can only confirm that the person who led this team has died".

When he was questioned if that was Mohamed Kasim Mohamed Zahran, he has stated that he cannot make a statement on that regard.

Even though the media reports that the suicide attack on Shangri-La Hotel was carried out by him , Police states that was done by someone else.

According to authorities, 9 suicide bombers have been involved in these attacks and out them 8 have been identified.

Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara stated that there is a woman among the 9 individuals and she has detonated the bomb as the Police attempted to search a house in Dematagoda. Wimal Weerawansa stated that she is the daughter - in -law of the spice trader Ibrahim.
