World Bank grants $ 125 million to face climate changes Featured

The World Bank International Development Association has agreed to grant Sri Lanka a loan of $ 125 million to face the country’s climatic changes.

The Secretary of the Finance Ministry R.H.S Samaratunge and The World Bank Vice President for the South Asia Region, Hartwig Schafer had signed the agreement in Washington USA.

Under this project environment friendly agricultural practices would be improved, agricultural production would be improved, irrigation systems would be renovated and several other measures to better prepare to face these climatic changes would be initiated.

According to the Finance Ministry, this project would be implemented covering six provinces.
