Around 3000 VOC Dutch period coins in the Archaeology Department pool and a priceless ancient Buddha statue has gone missing, according to Archaeology Department sources.

This was found when a coin count was done after the retirement of the Assistant Director who was in charge of these coins.

During the census, he had interfered in the process in a suspicious manner and the group of employees who were engaged in the census had also said to have left their duties.

According to documentation, the Archaeology Department pool is said to have had 06 ancient Buddha statues and 10,514 VOC coins.

However, currently there is only five statues and 7,500 VOC coins left in the pool, it is further reported.
