Hartal in the North demanding justice for the beloved ones

A Hartal has been launched in the North today (25) demanding solutions for the disappeared. The protestors say though they have been demanding a solution for 2 years nothing has been done so far.

Accordingly, all shops in the districts of Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar and Jaffna have been closed down hoisting black flags and some Tamil schools in some districts have also been closed down.

Bus services in the Northern Province were completely discontinued and many of the public servants in the North are in big trouble due to lack of transport facilities.

It is also reported that day to day activities of government organizations in the North have been hampered as limited number of public servants have reported to work.

Steps have been taken by the relatives of the disappeared to launch a 'Hartal' in the Northern Province today due to the absence of an acceptable solution for the disappeared since the inception of Satyagraha by them two years ago. Relatives of the disappeared people of the Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts took part in the Hartal and trade associations, bus associations and some other organizations extended their support for the initiative.
