Common amnesty for illegal migrants in Jordan

The Jordanian government has announced a common amnesty of a total of six months from February 5, 2019, to August 3 2019, for Sri Lankans who are illegally working violating Jordan’s immigration laws.

The Sri Lankan embassy in Jordan has been informed that nearly 3,500 Sri Lankans are illegally staying in the country.

The illegal migrant workers will be able to return back to Sri Lanka or find new employers sorting out their issues pertaining to documents during the amnesty period.

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has requested the public to use this opportunity to bring back their relatives to Sri Lanka who are staying in Jordan breaching the immigration laws.
