Bust of Yuri Gagarin unveiled in Colombo (Video / Pics)

A Bust of the world’s first cosmonaut - Yuri Gagarin was unveiled yesterday (25) at the Colombo Public Library during a visit of the newly inaugurated Russia - Sri Lanka Friendship Society.

Mayor of Colombo - Mrs. Rosy Senanayake attended as chief guest.

The event was attended by a host of distinguished guests including Tokarev Valery Ivanovich – President of the Friendship Society with Sri Lanka, the space pilot (with spouse, Tokareva Irina), Ryzhkov Pyotr Alekseevich – Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seven Suns, Polozkov Vladimir Mikhailovich – Deputy Chairman of the Board, Secretary General of the RAIC, Sergey Ryzhkov - Member of the Board of the Friendship Society with Sri Lanka, Polozkov Vladimir (jr) - Member of the Board of the Friendship Society with Sri Lanka, Mr. Igor V. Karavavev, Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, Madam Anastasia Khokhlova, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Advisor to H. E. President of Sri Lanka on International Affairs, Mrs. Varuni Gangabadaarachchi, Chief Librarian of the Public Library of Sri Lanka and Mr. Buddhapriya Ramanayaka, CEO of the Russian Centre.

The bust, donated by the International Charity Public Fund “Dialogue of Cultures – United World”, was unveiled by Mrs. Rosy Senanayake and Mr. Tokarev Valery Ivanovich.

At the occasion, Madam Anastasia Khokhlova made a book donation to the Public library by handing over Russian books.
