‘Lottery ticket price raised to give more wins’ Featured

Finance minister Ravi Karunanayake says the price of a lottery ticket was raised to Rs. 30 with the intention of giving more opportunities for the people to win.

He is commenting on protests in many areas against the increase in the price.

Karunanayake claims the prize money of lotteries had been swindled by the previous regime.

He goes on to say that the protestors are yet to ask him for a meeting to discuss the issue, alleging that an invisible political hand is making use of them.

If any party refuses to sell lottery tickets, there are many youths who are willing to take up that job, says the minister.

He adds that he totally disapproves of this protest action by lottery agents, who earn the highest commission rate in the country.
