Sonali has been suffering from an illness affecting her muscle function and has been unable to walk. She has been living with her mother and son at a rented house. Having no means of income, they have been living with the assistance of relatives and her son does all her work. Her mother too is said to be suffering from a similar illness.
Due to her pathetic state, Minister Premadasa had donated this house worth around Rs. 3 million to her at a ceremony that was attended by MP Ranjan Ramanayake.
Sajith Premadasa said he is committed to the welfare of artistes and would establish 25 villages for artistes by October this year. He also offered Anusha Sonali’s son a job in his ministry based on his qualifications.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjan Ramanayake said there are many other artistes too who are in the same predicament and said that it was a blessing that someone like Sajith Premadasa has been assigned the Cultural Ministry which is in charge of the arts field.
