Previously, ministers met on December 20, the day they took oaths, but they only approved the vote on account.
Finance minister Mangala Samaraweera says a paper will be submitted to the cabinet today to seek approval for the formulation of a budget for 2019 that includes proposals to uplift the economy and living standards of of the people and for equal urban and rural development.
He says he intends to include people-friendly proposals to save the people from poverty and to uplift them economically and socially and also to take local products to the international level.
An extensive programme for the development of infrastructure will also be included, he says.
The budget for 2019 is expected to be presented late February or early March.
