It is said that President’s Counsel Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, who crossed over from the UNP and pledged his support to the Rajapaksa government, is expected to return to the UNP.
Further, UPFA –MP Premalal Jayasekara is also said to be among the MPs who are scheduled to cross over to the UNP today, these sources noted.
Anti-Mahinda MP count rises to 129!
Meanwhile, addressing a media briefing held at Temple Trees yesterday (28), UNP-MP Thushara Indunil said that several MPs are expected to cross over to the UNF today.
He further noted that at today’s proposal in parliament to axe the Prime Minister’s expenditure head, 125-130 MPs are expected to pledge their support.
Meanwhile, MP Ravi Karunanayake also stated that around 128-129 MPs would support the proposal to suspend the Prime Minister’s expenditure head proposal.
“We have presented a proposal to parliament for the suspension of the Prime Minister’s expenditure. There will be a vote on it today. We challenge the illegal government to prove their majority and win this vote if possible,” he said.
