Indian man suffers from mental condition : medical reports Featured

Medical certificates confirm that the Indian man M. Thomas, who claimed threats to the lives of president Maithripala Sirisena, his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa and his wife Shiranthi Rajapaksa, suffers from a mental condition, a senior official at the police headquarters told 'Sri Lanka Mirror'.

The Indian national is in remand custody over a charge of concealing information with regard to a VVIP assassination attempt.

The CID has received the medical report by a team of specialists from the National Institute of Mental Health at Angoda and it will be submitted to the court, said the official.

On a court order, the suspect was examined by a doctor.

At the time of his arrest, the Indian high commission in Colombo quoted reports from India as saying Thomas was suffering from a mental condition since 2000.
