Recognized political parties are not required to make deposits for their candidates.
Independent groups will have to make deposits of Rs. 2,000 per candidate, according to clause 10 of the parliamentary elections act.
The gazette says Colombo will have 19 MPs, followed by 18 for Gampaha, 15 for Kurunegala, 12 for Kandy, 11 for Ratnapura, 10 each
for Kalutara and Galle and nine each for Anuradhapura and Kegalle.
Puttalam, Nuwara Eliya and Badulla will have eight MPs each, while Matara, Hambantota, Jaffna and Digamadulla will have seven MPs each.
The Wanni and Moneragala will have six MPs each.
Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa and Matara will have five MPs each, while Trincomalee will have four MPs.
