He was also ordered to pay Rs. 200,000 as compensation to the victim and warned him sternly to reform himself and carry out his services in a decent manner.

This acupuncture specialist had been employed at the Kalubowila Hospital on May 17, 2006 and had committed this crime, on the pretext of examining the female patient, the Attorney General’s charges stated.
However, the defence counsel Shavendra Wickrama urged the Judge to grant his client a lenient sentence without going into a lengthy trial, considering the fact that this incident had taken place 12 years ago and that his client repented for having committed this crime. Having considered this request, the High Court Judge Janaki Rajaratne issued this verdict.
