Accordingly, the existing Rs. 40 per second kilometre charge would be increased to Rs. 50 but the initial charge per kilometre in the Western Province which was Rs. 60 would not be changed, said the Association’s President Sunil Jayawardena.
However, in the Central Hills, the Rs. 60 charge for the initial kilometre would be increased to Rs. 80 and the charge per second kilometre has been increased from Rs. 50 to Rs. 60, he said. Jayawardena noted that the fare increase for the rest of the areas would be announced later tonight.
