Foreign Ministry not notified of Ravindra’s Mexico trip

Although the Chief of Defence Staff Ravindra Wijegunaratne’s office and several ministers claimed that the CDS had left for Mexico on an official visit to attend its Independence celebrations, apparently, the Foreign Ministry had not received such information, according to a senior official.

Usually, in such instances the foreign Ministry is notified and visas and other arrangements are made through them.

The CID had summoned Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne on September 10, but he had left the country without any prior notification.

The CID had notified Court that he is scheduled to be called again on September 19.

 Arrests without cases filed!

Meanwhile, when the President met the heads of media today (14) he said although the CID had arrested several security forces personnel in relation to the ongoing investigations and later released, so far no one has been charged.

The President said when the security force personnel are arrested without a charge, allegations are levelled against the government that they are engaged in hunting war heroes.
