CMC sources say this will be implemented within two months on a recommendation by its finance committee.
The private company in question has agreed to install sports equipment at the two parks and to pay Rs. 10,000 per month to the CMC.
Councilors of the UNP, SLPP and the SLFP have approved the proposal, while the five JVP members opposed.
JVP councilor Hemantha Weerakoon described it as an attempt to appease the rich, whereas a majority of municipal residents come from the poor segment of society.
