SLFP won't back a constitutional amendment? Featured

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is yet to reach an agreement with regard to a constitutional amendment, reports say.

Upon inquiring on this regard from several CC members of the SLFP, they said that the matter was not given much prominence during the CC meetings.

Speaking, one SLFPer said that the public does not back the constitution much and therefore the SLFP would not support this.

Meanwhile, reports say that a SLFP committee would be appointed to air the opinion of the party CC if the matter of a constitutional amendment would be included to the parliament agenda.

Although the 20th Amendment to the constitution has been gazetted, dates are yet to be fixed for a parliamentary debate.
