Legal action against Charlie Austin? Featured

The government is looking into the possibility of initiating legal action against Charlie Austin’s Austin Management company which is the manager for a majority of members of the national cricket team.

This comes after media reports that the company had influenced team selections.

There are allegations that Charlie had intervened to appoint Mahela Jayawardena as deputy for Marvan Atapattu following Sanath Jayasuriya’s resignation as caption.

Selectors chose Chaminda Vaas, but he was not managed by Charlie.

Now, there is an attempt by Charlie, also a former journalist, to get a few of his media friends to justify his continuation as manager for the national players.

They will cite the Rs. 5,000 reduction from the Rs. 25,000 payment for a player for an inter-club match, stressing that players should have managers to negotiate on their behalf with the game’s administration.
