Ranjan issued summons to appear in court

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake has been served summons by the Supreme Court today (12) ordering him to appear in Court on October 25.

He has been summoned to respond to two cases filed against him on charges of having made a media statement on August 21 insulting the judiciary and lawyers.

Defendant Ramanayake was issued summons when the case was taken up before a three judge bench comprising Judge Buwaneka Aluwihare, Judge Sisira de Aabrew and Judge Anil Gunaratne today.

A contempt of Court action against the Deputy Minister was filed by two parties including Ven. Magalkande Sudantha Thera
