He made this comment during a meeting of the party held at Temple Trees recently and advised all MPs that the entire party should operate as a single group.
He pointed out that by organising meetings in groups, this could lead to unnecessary friction within the party.
The Prime Minister made this comment over a meeting that was held between UNP- MPs in Tangalle a few weeks earlier.
The meeting organised by former Minister Ravi Karunanayake was attended by around 23 UNP members.
However, several of the MPs who had attended the meeting had later apologised to the Prime Minister.
