Tax revenue has to be increased (video)

A competitive market economy is required if Sri Lanka is to pay back a colossal Rs. 4,200,000 million debt burden within the next three years, says prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

An increase in exports and tax and other revenue growth are essential, he said at the commencement of a construction of a housing project this morning (17) at Weera Mawatha at Pannipitiya for state and private sector processionals.

The PM assured that development projects would not be disrupted despite the existing huge debt burden.

By 2020, the loan repayment basis will be in place and within the next five years, the debt burden could be eased, he said.
