Two die as spiders invade Indian town
(Srilankamirror) – Two have died as a group of unexpected creepy crawly visitors recently invaded an Indian town in Assam.
According to the Times of India, the incident had occurred on May 08 and scores of people with spider bites had arrived at hospitals for treatment.
On May 28, the spider allegedly appeared in Nalbari, Lower Assam – a good 600 km away from Sadiya – and bit a woman, TOI adds.
The spider is similar to a Tarantula, but experts have so far failed to identify the species.
Researchers are also still running tests to discover how poisonous the spiders are.
Experts are also concerned that the spider epidemic is being made worse by the influence of witch doctors in the town.
Worried local officials are considering spraying the town with insecticide to kill off the menace.
