Surgeries suspended at Embilipitiya Base Hospital

(Srilankamirror) – The Embilipitiya Base Hospital is not performing surgeries for about a fortnight now following its chief anaesthetist falling sick.

A hospital spokesman said there are five doctors trained on anaesthetics, and that they perform some of the duties of the regular anaesthetist.

Patients needing emergency surgery are transferred to Ratnapura or Hambantota Hospitals.
