Planned attack by govt. – JVP
(Srilankamirror) – The JVP accuses the government of having staged a planned attack on the party’s meeting at Katuwana in Hambantota last evening (June 15).
Speaking to the media today, JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said everyone should take to the streets to win their democratic rights, as the government has made its undemocratic intentions very clear through yet another act of street thuggery.
Secretary of the JVP Tilvyn Silva said the government should take responsibility for the double murder at the meeting.
Rejecting government claims that it was the result of an internal dispute of the party, he demanded the arrest of the killers without the spreading of falsehoods.
Mr. Silva said a complaint has been lodged with the details of those responsible, adding that most eyewitnesses were unwilling to come forward due to fear for their lives.
He said the JVP would launch a series of protests, with a major agitation in Colombo on June 19, against the government.
