Overhaul of Army along military, development lines

(Srilankamirror) – Army chief Jagath Jayasuriya says there will be a complete overhaul of the Army along military and development lines.

According to Lt. Gen. Jayasuriya, the reorganizing will take place while protecting the professional dignity and respect of the military personnel.

He says personnel of combat regiments will continue to be deployed for national security duties, although the country no longer faces a war situation.

The other personnel in the Army will contribute to the development and agricultural services of the country.
