More than 1,200 child marriages in A’pura

(Srilankamirror) – Anuradhapura district is having more than 1,200 marriages involving children of school-going age.

According to lankatruth website, only 157 of these instances were reported to police last year.

ASP of Anuradhapura K.D.K. Senaratne revealed these details at an anti-narcotics seminar for schoolchildren.

He has added that 72 per cent of boys in senior classes have experimented with alcohol and cigarettes.
