Mahanayake Theras are involved in politics
(Srilankamirror) – JHU leader Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera says Mahanayake Theras are directly involved in politics.
He has responded to a remark by Asgiriya Mahanayake Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera that Buddhist monks needed not go to parliament to serve the country and the nation.
The JHU leader told Hiru FM that the Mahanayake Theras should practise what they preached.
He claimed the Mahanayake Theras had got involved in the internal conflict of the UNP, by issuing statements that asked Ranil Wickremesinghe to give way for Karu Jayasuriya as leader of the party.
That is politics, he added.
