‘Buddhist monks in politics have 4 enemies’
(Srilankamirror) – Buddhist monks in politics have to counter four enemy forces – terrorists, pro-LTTE activists, drug and alcohol dealers and missionaries and multi-religionists, said JHU leader Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera.
He was speaking at a felicitation in his honour in Kandy yesterday (June 13).
These enemy forces have become alarmed by the services rendered by the Buddhist monks and are trying to bring in a private member’s motion to prevent their representation in parliament, said the JHU leader.
Although there is a popular belief that parliament is full of corruption and fraud, Buddhist monks go there not to commit such acts, but to work for the wellbeing of the country and the nation, he said.
